We encourage you to visit our site to learn about our school. Hopefully, you will be reminded of some of the same things you did while a student, while other elements or our school may be very different. Our goal has remained the same for the past ninety years. We provide an excellent education for the children of St. Helen Catholic School.
Our mission is to educate the whole child so that each student develops spiritually, academically, morally, and socially. Our curriculum is based upon Chicago Archdiocesan and Illinois State standards. In educating the whole child, classes in Fine Arts, Technology, and Physical Education are offered throughout the day. Extra-curricular classes include piano, dance, chess, foreign languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Polish), advanced math and science, and drama.
Students in most grades may participate in Sports. Soccer is offered for the younger children. Basketball is offered for students in grades 4-8.
If you are interested in working with former students in updating our alumni databank or if you want to share your own photos, please give us a call at 773-486-1055.
2014 marks the Centennial Year of St. Helen Catholic School. Save the Date cards for a 100th Anniversary Gala will be sent in late 2013. Currently the school enrollment has exceeded 400 students and for the first time in over two decades, the "rooms above the Gym" are being used as classrooms for the Jr. High students. The computer lab has been upgraded with lap top computers and wireless connectivity is available throughout the three buildings. Smart Board technology is utilized in K-8 classrooms as well as the computer lab.
Sincerely,
Marianne Johnson, Principal
