Grades 4-8 Interscholastic Competition

St. Helen School offers many developmental and competitive programs for grades 4-8, designed to build character and develop teamwork.  St. Helen School is a member of the Chicago Catholic Youth League. Go Knights!

Cross Country

Fall Season

Cross Country - Grades 3-8

Cross Country is offered competitively to students in grades 3 through 8.  

 

St. Helen School competes in local meets, the CCYL championships, and the IESA state championships.

St. Helen School has qualified teams and runners for the state competition every year since 2018.  Our boys team took 6th in Illinois in 2021!

Basketball

Winter Season

Basketball - Grades 4-8

Basketball is available to all students in grades 4 through 8.

 

St. Helen School participates in competitive league and tournament play.

Visit CCYL for all information regarding our basketball league.

St. Helen Cross Country Open in the News!

2022 - 23 Important Dates:

  • Cross Country Registration Due: September 5, 2022

  • First Cross Country meet: August 27, 2022

  • Basketball Registration Due: September 5, 2022

  • Basketball practices begin: October 31, 2022

  • Basket Ball Season runs: November 7, 2022 - February 26, 2023. No games to be played during Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

Requirements:

  • Resume

  • Background check 

  • Virtus trained through Archdiocese of Chicago

  • Concussion course certification

  • Complete coaching education through the Play Like A Champion Today program for coaches.  (St Helen parents and fans receive sports professional development through the PLACT program)

Students at St. Helen are encouraged to explore their talents while also having the courage to try something new or different.

Much of the learning that happens at St. Helen is beyond the blackboard and happens in our after school enrichment.
